North East Harrier League Cross Country 2017

Well done to Andrew Nes Nesbit who has been named as male runner of the year 2016 by another running buddy and rightly so.

Quoted " The one and only Andrew Nez Nesbit has had an amazing year and he has gone from strength to strength over the last few years but he has worked really hard with his fitness this year and I must say looks in an amazing shape lean and trim and very fit (hope that did not sound to gay )
He has done loads of marathons and even dipping under the 4 hr mark at Kielder which i know he was chuffed with but we all know that will soon be under 3.45 or less.
But there is two races that really sealed this title for him and that was of course if finishing the Hardmoors 110 (also achieving the triple slam) was not amazing enough he had to go and follow that with West Highland way finish, which on its own is well great effort but to achieve it after the 110 only several weeks earlier is awesome.
Then he was not content and went and did the Lakeland 50 a few months later.
I know he was disappointed having to pull out of the Hell on the Humber 24 hr but is there no surprise with all that running in his legs and he knows it was right at the time .
Andy has tackled many distances this year and many terrains and his attitude to not just the races but to his training his inspiring. He seems to be at the top of his game and enjoys the training just as much as the races - running is an every day part of his life and we cannot imagine what he will tackle next year and achieved with such a great year behind him!
So we would like to wish him all the best in 2017 and hope to see you on the trails soon.
Andy please take a bow and accept save and inner Daves male runner of 2016 ...."

Fantastic running year 2016 Andrew and here is to some even more great running in 2017.

Message from Jamie our Cross Country Captain...

Hello
As you will most likely know by now Paul Boyle (juniors), Lynne E Em (senior ladies) and I (senior men) were named as the captains for the 2016/17 North Eastern Harrier League (NEHL) or for the purposes of Graham re-branded as the North Eastern Trail Running League (NETRL) We are thrilled and proud to be captains and we really hope we can build on the clubs amazing 1st Season finishing 11th (Men’s) & 10th (Ladies).
Out of interest for members who took part last season you may or may not know there is also an Individual Grand Prix League which I will post but in summary
Ian Hutchinson - 1st * Senior Men - Final Position 157
Steve Turner - 1st * Vet Men - Final Position 141
Amy Pattison - 1st * Senior Ladies - Final Position 65
Glynis Turner - 1st * Vet Ladies- Final Position 110
*denotes 1st for our club

Well done everyone who took part and/or supported team DVTR, you did our club proud!

SPOILER ALERT
Be prepared for some serious nagging over the coming weeks from the 3 of us! :-)
Seriously, for those who haven’t experienced Harrier League (X-Country) give it ago it is fun (honest), you may get cold, wet (no different to club nights) but you will get to run at some fantastic venues representing our fantastic club! It’s not about how fast you can run, it’s a team event so we need as many of you out there as possible, last season there were venues when we didn’t have a full team out so we got penalized and we still finished the top half of the league! We may not be the biggest club out taking part compared to some of the established clubs but what we can match each and every one of them with our Team Spirit ! Hey if Leicester can win the Premier League we can finish higher next season...
Our committee has kindly allowed us to buy a shiny new event tent to keep you all warm & dry before and after races, so no excuse!
If you are interested in running could you let us know, as we will need to register you! Or if you have any questions/info please drop us a message or come and see us on a Club night!

Let’s build on lasts seasons achievement’s, but we can only do this with your help!

1st race is on Saturday 1st October @ Wrekenton

We Need You!

Jamie

Good News Coaching Fans!

Dawn Metcalfe - Leader - Visionary - Chairwoman - Club Coach
It's offical girls and boys Dawn has now passed her exams and is now officially a Coach in running fitness!!!

In her own words:
My main aim is to make the coaching sessions as varied and challenging as possible whilst taking athletes out of their comfort zones but appropriate for different abilities. Has any one every sprinted up Pontop Pike (the hard route) and back down 7 times?

Prepare to be challenged but be amazed at your inner strength...

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
